What risks are covered by the selected CASCO policy?
What is the value of the insured object?
In which cases may the payment of insurance indemnity be refused partially or in full?
What is the deductible amount for each insured risk included in the CASCO policy? The deductible is the portion of the loss that is covered by the policyholder in the event of an insured occurrence. Therefore, the insurer will cover all expenses exceeding the deductible amount. For example, if the deductible is EUR 100, any loss where the damage is less than EUR 100 must be covered by the policyholder. When choosing a CASCO policy without a deductible, it should be taken into account that the premium will be higher.
Is there a limit on the number of authorised drivers? If so, what are the consequences in case of a breach of this condition?
In which territory will the CASCO policy be valid? Is an additional premium required if the vehicle is used outside Latvia?
Will there be an additional charge if the CASCO insurance premium is paid in instalments?
Does the policyholder have the right to decide whether the vehicle repair costs are settled directly or whether the insurance indemnity is paid in cash?
Are there any restrictions regarding the driver’s age or driving experience?
How efficient is the CASCO indemnity payment process — within what period does the insurance company undertake to pay the insurance indemnity?
What security systems (audible alarm, factory immobiliser) are required?

The price of a CASCO policy, i.e. the insurance premium, is calculated individually for each vehicle based on a risk assessment. The most important factors affecting the CASCO insurance price are:
The value of the vehicle.
The age of the vehicle.
The make and model of the vehicle.
The owner’s status – private individual or legal entity.
The type of vehicle use – passenger, cargo, or taxi transport.
The selected insurance coverage – which risks are insured.
The deductible amount – the higher the amount the vehicle owner is willing to bear after an accident, the lower the cost of the CASCO policy.
The number of payments – if the CASCO insurance premium is divided into several instalments, it may be higher.
The anti-theft and security systems installed in the vehicle – the more secure they are, the lower the cost of the CASCO policy.
The CASCO policyholder’s insurance history.
The territorial scope of the policy.
CASCO insurance is voluntary vehicle insurance that covers losses arising from various circumstances, even if the policyholder is at fault for the accident. Losses arising in the following cases are covered:
Collision of the vehicle with another vehicle or an obstacle.
As a result of fire, including vehicle self-ignition.
As a result of theft or robbery – the vehicle has been broken into, unlawfully taken, or stolen.
Malicious damage caused to the insured vehicle by a third party.
As a result of falling objects.
As a result of natural events – strong wind, storm, flood, lightning, hail, and other natural conditions.
Additional risks may also be included in the CASCO insurance coverage:
Driver and passenger personal accident insurance, which provides indemnity for the treatment of injuries sustained in a road traffic accident.
Loss of use insurance, which covers the costs of replacing the damaged vehicle while it is being repaired.
For new vehicles – new value insurance, which covers losses in the event of total loss or theft of the vehicle by indemnifying the cost of purchasing a new vehicle.
CASCO insurance is a mandatory requirement if the vehicle is purchased through leasing. A CASCO policy may be arranged for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, all types of trailers, agricultural tractor equipment, buses, and even retro vehicles.

Losses are not indemnified in the following cases:
If the road traffic accident is caused while operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or narcotic substances.
If there has been a gross violation of traffic regulations, including significantly exceeding the permitted speed limit.
If the vehicle is driven without the legal right to operate the relevant vehicle category.
